a new bride... The thought of dancing in front of 150+
family and friends made me a bit nervous. I had heard of
couples taking dance classes for their first dance and thought it
sounded like a great and fun idea. Then someone mentioned that
our own Cyndi Dorber taught classes at the Lewisville Recreation Center.
It took some pleading on my part to convince him to agree to dance
classes, but he did agree and it helped a girlfriend of mine
convince her fiancé to do the classes as well. Cyndi offers
private lessons so the 4 of us went to 4 1-hour sessions before our
weddings in June 2005. The first few sessions, we learned basic
ballroom steps and then we brought in the music for our first dance
song, Come Away with Me by Norah Jones and we learned steps to
coordinate with our song.
After taking the lessons, we both felt so much more at ease and when
it came to our wedding reception, we had a fabulous time.
Everyone loved our dance and had even asked if had taken lessons.
The classes were a lot of fun and I would recommend them to anyone
who wants to learn something new. |
